Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh Reveals She’s Cautious About Talking About Food In Front Of Her Daughters As She Talks About Her IBS And Anxiety
Millie Mackintosh revealed that she is careful about discussing food around her daughters as she opened up about her irritable bowel syndrome and anxiety.
The former Made In Chelsea star, 34, has recently spoken out about her ‘struggles’ with her 1.4 million Instagram followers after first struggling when she was a teenager.
She admitted that she found it really hard to talk about the tough issues at first because she was “really embarrassed.”
Millie first developed IBS symptoms while traveling in her late teens after noticing pain and bloating, which later “disrupted her life.”
She said The mirror: “I should leave social situations and always complain about a stomach ache. Little did I know I had IBS and candida overgrowth in my gut, which resulted from taking back-to-back antibiotics for tonsillitis.

“I was diagnosed when I was 18. It had gotten to the point where it really disrupted my life. My mother took me to a specialist and we discovered that I was intolerant to gluten and dairy due to a weakened gut. When you were 18 it was hard to hear that you can’t eat gluten and dairy, and there weren’t the alternatives then that there are now.’
After keeping IBS symptoms to a minimum for most of her twenties, when Millie started a family with husband Hugo Taylor, 37, her pregnancy caused her a number of problems.
The reality star, who is mum to Sienna, three, and Aurelia, 20 months, said pregnancy made her “gassier” and that it was “inevitable with the hormones.”
Last summer, Millie revealed she had begun therapy and low-dose medication to help ease the anxiety.
She added, “I was on medication for about six months. When I got off it, it felt like my anxiety was gone for a few months. I was like, “Great, I’m fine!” Then, more recently, it has come back. It’s hard after you’ve had kids.’
Since taking medication, Millie has avoided foods that don’t suit her, caffeine and alcohol that she felt “really helped.”
Having always been conscious of what foods she eats, the TV personality revealed that she is “very conscious of how she talks about food” in front of her daughters.
She said she spoke to her husband Hugo “early” and explained that there should be “no disgrace and no good or bad food” in their home.
Millie has also shown daughter Sienna how to take care of her body while sitting and watching her do her 10 minute morning meditation.
The MIC star added that physical activity really helped her mentally as she described her healthy lifestyle in the publication.
