Mad Men star Christina Hendricks posts telling photo on Instagram after Donald Trump wins presidential election

Christina Hendricks responded to the news that Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election with a telling photo.

The 49-year-old actress – known for her role as ambitious secretary Joan Holloway in the 1960s drama series Mad Men – took to her Instagram in the early hours of the day on Wednesday.

She shared a somber image of herself lying on the couch with a distraught look on her face and her eyes were red as if she had been crying.

The star left the post without a caption, but her fans suspected the poignant photo was a way to express her disappointment over the loss of 60-year-old Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

The photo appeared to be from the set of the NBC crime drama Good Girls, where she played the role of Beth Boland from 2018 to 2021.

“Exactly how I woke up,” one fan wrote in response.

‘Scary, unbelievable and unacceptable. Consider yourself hugged,” another added.

‘Sure. Seems about right.”

‘Hugs. I feel it too,” someone else chimed in.

“Oh…same. I love you Christina,” another added.

However, others commented that celebrity endorsements are irrelevant, with one writing: ‘Nobody really cares who a celebrity endorses. Their lives are completely different from those of the working class.’

Hendricks previously indicated in October that she would vote for Harris in the election, while urging her followers to vote as well.

The star shared a photo of herself with an ‘I Voted’ sticker and wrote in the caption: ‘Made sure I got that ballot paper to Scotland, filled it out and she’s back to the States!’

‘Please, please vote!’ she wrote, adding, “This has never been more important than it is right now. I love you. #vote #kamalaharris’

Harris had dozens of stars supporting her bid for the White House, with the likes of Showbiz royalty Beyonce (L) and Jennifer Lopez (R) joining her at her events

‘Please, please vote! Tons of online help to decipher each measure, etc. Just take your time and you’ll be so proud you did it. This has never been more important than now. I love you. #vote #kamalaharris.”

Hendricks rose to fame on Mad Men, where she played sassy 1960s secretary Joan for seven series, until the show’s grand finale in 2015.

Her character, who later became an advertising agency partner, became a huge fan favorite and Hendricks received Emmy nominations for her performance.

Hendricks was among a number of Hollywood stars to support the Harris campaign, with showbiz royalty Oprah and Beyoncé joining the vice president at her events.

Blockbuster stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts were featured in her campaign ads, and millennial and Gen-Z icons, like Taylor Swift and Charli virtue signaling’ A-listers wasn’t enough.

Trump, 78, became the country’s next president after capturing votes in a wave of swing states and winning both the popular vote and the Electoral College overnight.

He received the support of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, former WWE star Hulk Hogan, and Joe Rogan, who made a last-minute endorsement of the Republican candidate on the eve of Election Day.

While it’s questionable what effect celebrity endorsements actually have on voters, experts argue that Rogan’s single show of support to his millions of followers likely helped Trump far more than the star-studded lineup preaching the blue wall.

Rapper Cardi B unleashed an expletive-laden tirade against the army of Trump supporters after dramatically taking control of the US elections, but the stars who joined Harris on the campaign trail – including Oprah and Beyoncé – have yet to made some statement.

Beyoncé showed her support for the vice president almost immediately after Harris announced her candidacy — allowing the vice president to use her song Freedom in her campaign ads and during rallies.

Oprah traveled across the country on Monday to attend the final rally of Harris’ 2024 campaign, where she made her final pitch to voters in the crucial state of Pennsylvania.

She also issued a strong warning to the crowd, urging them to vote. “If we don’t show up tomorrow, it’s very possible we’ll never get the chance to vote again,” she said.
