The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade’s new Wednesday Addams float has been torn apart by armchair critics after it made its debut during the 2024 festivities.

Based on Jenna Ortega’s character in the hit Netflix drama, the latest edition was one of 17 giant, helium-filled character balloons, 22 floats and 15 novelty and heritage inflatables in rainy New York City on Thursday morning.

But according to social media users, the statue “looks more like Thursday than Wednesday.”

Viewers didn’t hold back their brutal criticism online, with many also comparing it to another Netflix show, Squid Game.

Someone said to X, “I don’t know what day of the week that is, but it’s not Wednesday.”

“Squid Games vibe haha,” another added.

A third commented: “She’s not up for Thanksgiving…Halloween instead?”

“Not my Wednesday,” said a fourth.

“It looks weird if you don’t mind me being honest,” a fifth added.

A sixth continued: ‘I honestly thought this was an advert for the new Squid Game.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another wrote, “Now all we need is a Squid Games float that looks like Wednesday and we’re in business.”

Coming-of-age supernatural drama Wednesday will premiere on Netflix in 2022.

Starring Jenna, the television series follows the troubled teen as she tries to adjust to her new high school, while also realizing that she has inherited her mother’s psychic abilities, allowing her to solve a local murder mystery.

Netflix on Wednesday scheduled season two for release in 2025.

In addition to the new Wednesday balloon, this year’s celebration welcomed a float celebrating Rao’s food brand, featuring a knight and dragon in battle, made with real pasta elements.

Another marked the Bronx Zoo’s 125th anniversary with images of a tiger, giraffe, zebra and gorilla.

“The work we do, the opportunity to impact millions of people and bring a few hours of joy on Thanksgiving morning, is what motivates us every day,” said Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This year’s 100th anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The end is scheduled for around noon, three miles away, at the Macy’s Herald Square flagship store on 34th Street, which serves as a stage and backdrop for performances.

This morning there will be rain in the northeast, but the parade will go ahead.

It has only been canceled three times, from 1942 to 1944 during World War II, but organizers will monitor wind speeds during the festivities to ensure the large balloons fly safely.

So far, the forecast calls for rain with temperatures in the low 40s and winds around 10 miles per hour, well within the acceptable range to keep Snoopy, Bluey and their friends flying.
