Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade: Lea Michele wears a red coat to belt out Don’t Rain On My Parade

Singer and actress Lea Michele stood out on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday.
The 36-year-old Glee veteran wore a bright red costume and black feathered hat from her Funny Girl Broadway show as she sang the hit song “Don’t Rain On My Parade.”
The mother of one of them performed at the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

In addition to the iconic balloons, the parade will also feature 28 floats, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns and various music stars will make their way on Thanksgiving Day.
She was seen rehearsing in October.

The star spoke Good morning America in NYC about stepping into some really big shoes before singing a song from the show.
When asked if she would love it if her idol Barbra Streisand, who famously played Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, came over to watch her performance, Michele said yes and that it would be “incredible.”

Funny Girl is a musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and a book by Isobel Lennart, which first opened on Broadway in 1964.
Streisand performed on stage and then starred in the 1968 film starring Omar Sharif.
Lea shared, “Everyone knows my love for Barbra Streisand, I expressed that from Glee, growing up, and she’s made Funny Girl what it is and we’d love for her to come on the show.”
“It would be incredible if she came,” Lea remarked.

As far as being on Broadway again, she said it makes her happy.
“It’s so exciting to be a part of the Broadway community, to return home for me, I love it so much,” she said.
“I started performing when I was eight years old in Les Miserables and now, many years later, to be back on Broadway in my fifth show, it was a dream come true to star as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl .’

As for juggling the show and being a mom to her two-year-old son Ever, she says she’s just trying her best.
“I’m figuring it out, I’ve got the best man, he’s great, it’s helping. But it’s a challenge. My son knows I sing and go to work,” she said.
She also told her son that she loves him and will see him later.
The star was also in costume to perform the song Don’t Rain on My Parade with the cast of Funny Girl.
