A body has been found in a van floating in the water at Mackay Harbour.
At approximately 7 a.m. Thursday morning, workers found the body of a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
The van has drifted with the current and is now stuck under a pontoon, where it is in danger of being crushed by the rising tide.
Three tow trucks and several emergency services, including police, ambulance personnel and fire brigade, rushed to get the vehicle out of the water.
“At this point we’re still looking at (CCTV) to see what time the car actually hit the water,” Sgt Kyle Gould told the Courier post.
“At this point it’s still under investigation so we can’t comment yet,” said Sergeant Gould.
