A manhunt is underway for the driver of a car that ran a red light and plowed through a 12-year-old boy as he tried to evade police in northern Brisbane.
Officers were alerted to an unregistered Commodore on Kessels Road, Macgregor at around 12:05 am and while attempting to stop the vehicle, it sped away.
Police allege the vehicle ran a red light and hit the 12-year-old boy who was crossing the road at the intersection of Mains Road and Cosmic Street.

The boy was taken to hospital with multiple fractures and head injuries.
His condition is serious but stable.
