All five Culkin brothers – Macaulay, Kieran, Rory, Christian and Shane – to star in the same project for FIRST time

All five Culkin brothers make their joint debut in the upcoming Prime Video animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.

The exciting casting call features Macaulay, Kieran, Rory, Christian and Shane Culkin, who all started their acting careers in childhood and are now in their 30s and 40s.

Kieran voices one of the main characters, Dr. Plowp, while Plowp’s siblings are voiced by the Succession star’s real-life brothers.

Culkin’s roster of siblings also includes sisters Quinn Culkin, Dakota Culkin – who died after being hit by a car in 2008 – and half-sister Jennifer Adamson, who died of an overdose in 2000.

Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy showrunner Cirocco Dunlap revealed on Tuesday that Keiran was the one who introduced the Culkin clanster together on the series.

‘So Kieran came up with the role of Dr. Plowp and in a crazy turn of events, the bird alien (the character he plays) had four brothers (in the script) before he was cast,” Dunlap shared. The Hollywood Reporter.

“So he already had the four brothers and when we cast Kieran we were like, ‘You have four brothers!’ That’s ridiculous, what a fate,” Dunlap continued.

“Kieran was the one who suggested it, he said, ‘We can get my brothers’ and I said, ‘What? Yes, yes we should do that.’ And they’re so great, they’re so funny, they’re very empathetic and very sweet.”

However, it turns out that Natasha Lyonne, who plays Nurse Tup on the show, was the one who sealed the deal.

“Natasha’s magic, she called – I think she picked up the Culkin Batphone and they all answered,” joked Maya Rudolph, who is lining up to lend her voice to Dr. Flame.

Natasha said at the time: “I’m the Culkin whisperer, it turns out.”

“I worked with Mac on Party Monster, I want to say it was five years ago but it was probably 25. And so we became friends, we were friends straight away and he would do charades and the family would all be there. Kieran and I have become friends along the way, I think I might have made a film with Rory.

“I love them, I really love those Culkins,” she added.

The rest of the cast includes Keke Palmer as Dr. Clack, Sam Smith as Dr. Azel and Stephanie Hsu from Everything, Everywhere All at Once as Dr. Sleech.

The animated adult TV series tells the story of Sleech and Klak, two alien doctors with expertise in dealing with rare and special diseases.

An official synopsis from Amazon reads: ‘In season one, Doctors Sleech and Klak take on a very dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case, endangering existence itself. Although, given their bleak personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.”

In episode six of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, Kieran’s character is joined by his cosmic siblings.

The five will come together as Plowp and Sleech celebrate a holiday that coincides with the burgeoning development of their romantic relationship.

At 41, Kieran previously shared the screen with his older brother Macaulay, 43, in the Home Alone franchise, and alongside Christian, 37, in My Summer Story.

Additionally, Rory, 34, starred in The Good Son alongside his 39-year-old sister, Quinn Culkin.

He also played younger versions of Macaulay in Richie Rich and Kieran in 2002’s Igby Goes Down.

The Culkin brothers have enjoyed a hugely successful run in Hollywood, with Keiran taking home an Emmy in 2024 for his turn as Roman Roy in Succession.

He emotionally thanked his mother Patricia Brentrup, 69, during his acceptance speech at the Emmys – before taking a swipe at his estranged father Christopher “Kit” Culkin, 79, by calling him “some guy.”

Patricia was unable to attend the ceremony because she is in poor health.

Drama has surrounded the Culkin family since Macaulay rose to fame in the 1990s with his roles in Home Alone and Uncle Buck.

At the age of 16, he rose to fame for feuding with his now-divorced parents over control of his $50 million fortune during their custody dispute involving him and his six siblings.

He later temporarily quit acting and hasn’t spoken to Kit since.

In his 2006 memoir, Macaulay accused his father of both physical and emotional abuse.

He claimed that his father threatened to hit him when he was just 11 years old, while hosting SNL in 1991, for using cue cards.

In 2016, a now reclusive Kit said he “didn’t think of Macaulay as a son anymore,” while Kieran hasn’t seen his father since 2014.
