Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman reveals daughter’s horror diagnosis

Johnny Van Zant, the legendary frontman of Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, has shared heartbreaking news about his daughter’s recent health issues.

Van Zant, 63, announced on Facebook before the weekend that his youngest daughter, Taylor, had been diagnosed with a brain mass.

The shocking news came just days after the band was forced to cancel several shows due to a “family emergency.”

“First of all, I want to thank you all for praying for my family,” Van Zant said in the video. ‘I have not revealed my daughter’s name because she is very private. When I say that, I think a lot of you know it’s my youngest daughter Taylor.”

Van Zant explained that Taylor suddenly began experiencing numbness on the right side of her body.

The family then rushed her to the emergency room, where doctors discovered a growth on her brain, which had also caused internal bleeding.

“A few days ago, Taylor started feeling numb on her right side,” he said. “She went to the emergency room, they did a CAT scan and the only way they found was it was a growth on her brain, and part of it was bleeding. That caused the numbing part.”

Although doctors don’t believe the mass is cancer, Van Zant said more tests are being conducted, and they’re not out of the woods yet.

“In saying this, we’ve had her with a great neurological team and a group of doctors, and they don’t think it’s (cancer),” he continued.

“So that’s a good thing, but they’re still doing a lot of testing. We’re not out of the woods yet, but we’re in a lot better shape than we initially thought.’

But the disturbing news didn’t end there.

The rock star also revealed that his longtime tour bus driver, Brad Gibson, is currently in intensive care after a freak accident during a stop in Utah.

‘I have one more; when it rains, it pours. My bus driver who has been on the road with me for the past few months,” he said.

“He smashed the scooter and hit his head, and he’s in intensive care. Brad Gibson is his name. I want to get Brad back on his feet, along with Taylor.

“He has a nice family, a young daughter, a great family, and he’s been a great driver for us. Good guy, and a very freak accident; if you can say prayers, prayers, prayers for him.

“You know, the (devil) will try to get you any way he can if you start spreading his word, but we won’t let him,” he added. ‘We’re going to fight him to the end. All he wants is to cause us trouble and harm us.

“So think about that, I’m not going to let it happen. I’m going to fight it all the way with Jesus Christ.”
