Luke Shaw has praised Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag for restoring a sense of discipline to the club.
Despite his goalscoring form, Marcus Rashford was not included in the Dutchman’s starting XI for United’s game against Wolves on Saturday.
Ten Hag would later cite “internal discipline” as his justification for leaving the England international on the bench at Molineux, with Rashford coming into the game in the second half before scoring to secure a 1–0 win.

Rashford later explained that the discipline his manager referred to came after he was absent from the team’s pre-game meeting.
Speaking after their victory on Saturday, Shaw explained that the former Ajax boss has instilled a sense of discipline in his star-studded squad.
“At a top club like this, it has to be,” Shaw told BT Sport. “I think people can’t do whatever they want and maybe that’s been part of the problem in the past with people getting away with silly little things.
Ten Hag dropped Rashford from the starting lineup after he missed a pre-match team meeting.
“The manager takes all of that into consideration. As you’ve seen today, if you don’t keep the standards high, then you won’t play.’
Shaw also praised his international teammate’s recent performances: “I think he’s doing very well at the moment. He’s extremely confident, very positive, very happy and it’s good to see him.
Everyone knows the quality it has. He’s world class and he could be one of the best in the world if he keeps going and I hope he does.”
But Rashford (pictured left) scored the winner at Molineux after appearing as a substitute.
Rashford is not the first player to receive sanctions for his behavior from the new United boss. Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped after refusing to appear as a late substitute in the club’s win over Spurs in October.
Ronaldo’s relationship with Ten Hag reached a breaking point after he made a series of explosive comments during a television interview, and the 37-year-old eventually left the club to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in a historic deal. earlier this week.
