Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw took part in the England team’s training on Monday.

This was the first time Shaw had trained with his international teammates this summer after reporting for the 2024 European Championships with a hamstring injury.

That injury had kept Shaw out of action for his club since February, and Gareth Southgate’s decision to call him up after four months without competitive action took many by surprise.

Shaw previously trained alone since arriving in Germany, but all 26 members of Southgate’s squad trained together on the eve of their Group C clash against Slovenia.

The 28-year-old Shaw – who has 31 international caps to his name – is the only specialist still back in the England squad. Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier started in the No. 3 role in the recent games against Serbia and Denmark.

Shaw was closely watched by Southgate during Monday’s session, especially during a ‘rondo’ exercise.

The former Southampton star looked sharp on the ball and then showed his impressive pace and agility while turning in the middle.
