Luke Littler suffers first loss since becoming world champion as Gerwyn Price produces blistering performance to topple the teenage sensation

Luke Littler was brought back down to earth when he was defeated by Gerwyn Price for the first time since becoming world champion at the Bahrain Masters on Friday.

The 17-year-old Littler played his first match since winning at Alexandra Palace on Thursday when he defeated Lourence Ilagan of the Philippines.

But he was no match for Price as the Welsh star sealed a 6-2 victory with a thrilling performance.

Price, himself a world champion, hit seven 180s and finished with an average of over 115 – a new tournament record.

Littler hit five 180s himself and averaged just over 105, but couldn’t keep up with Price.

Price made his intentions clear from the start as he hit back-to-back 180s to take the opening leg convincingly.
