Luke Littler edges through to the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship after nervy deciding-set win over Ryan Joyce – as he keeps alive his dream of becoming the sport’s youngest-ever champion

  • Luke Littler was pushed all the way by Ryan Joyce in their last 16 match
  • He eventually defeated his compatriot and advanced to the quarter-finals
  • Littler will meet Nathan Aspinall in the last eight on New Year’s Day

Luke Littler fought his way through to the quarter-finals of the World Championship with a 4-3 victory over Ryan Joyce on Monday evening.

The 17-year-old sensation took the lead three times but Joyce simply refused to go away as he pushed Littler into a decider.

But Littler’s class finally shone through as he held double 12 to book his place in the last eight.

A showdown with Nathan Aspinall now awaits on New Year’s Day, with Littler just three games away from becoming the sport’s youngest ever champion.

Aspinall’s passage to the quarter-finals was much easier as he defeated German Ricardo Pietreczko 4-0 on Monday afternoon.
