Luke Humphries reaches first World Darts Championship semi-final after thrashing Dave Chisnall in the last eight at Alexandra Palace

Luke Humphries advanced to the last four of the World Darts Championship for the first time in his career after beating Dave Chisnall in the quarter-finals at Alexandra Palace.

Humphries had faced scares in his previous two rounds against Ricardo Pietreczko and Joe Cullen, but the third seed took an early lead against Chisnall.

'Cool Hand Luke' remained calm as Chisnall leveled the match, claiming the last four sets and securing a dominant 5-1 win.

'It felt strange to be the leader for once. It felt good to be at the front and I didn't give in,” Humphries told Sky Sports.

'Chizzy played very well at times, he is such a good player and made it difficult. I really had to bring my A-game out.

'I haven't been myself in the early days of this tournament, but tonight I showed the form I have seen in the last few majors. I think I played as well as I needed to.

“Chizzy was there, so I'm happy I performed as well as I needed to.

'I don't think you can call it (the tournament). It's anyone's game. From now on, may the best man win.”
