Luka Modric is not considering a move to Major League Soccer, says Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti amid continued ties with Inter Miami.
The Croatian star has seen his playing time diminish in Spain this season and has been repeatedly rumored to be considering a sensational move to the United States to team up with Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer.
But on Friday, Ancelotti suggested Modric has no plans to leave the team.
“I don’t think he thinks about it, we think he is very important and he knows it, he doesn’t have that thought and we are happy with him,” he said, before admitting that the 38-year-old is. not happy with the playing time he has had so far this season.
‘I speak to him every day and I see a player who is clearly not happy not to play, but after saying that he keeps his motivation high as well as his drive to bring something to the team, no one can give what he gives in the Dressing Room. It is his charisma, what he gives to his teammates.
‘I completely understand that not playing affects him. It happens to everyone who loves Modric: fans, teammates, coaches, they all love him too.”
Miami has a free agent on its roster, allowing them to sign a player of Modric’s caliber.
They have also been linked with Luis Suarez, a former teammate of Messi from their time together at Barcelona.
Modric has played eight games for Real Madrid so far this season, five of them as a substitute.
His current contract with Madrid runs until the summer of 2024, meaning this could be his last season with the team.
