A day after Luka Doncic asked security to kick a Phoenix Suns fan out of the American Airlines Center, he admitted he shouldn’t have turned him away.

The Mavericks were eliminated at home by the Suns and Doncic said he was frustrated with the score and twisted his ankle in the first half.

The fan’s comments set off the All-Star starter enough to have the road fan escorted from the venue.

“Luka, you’re tired!” the Suns fan was heard saying in video footage from near the Dallas bench that went viral. “Get your ass on the treadmill!”

After thinking for some time, Doncic apologized because he was the one responsible for starting the Phoenix fan.

Doncic appeared on the NBA show on TNT and apologized for his actions on Wednesday night

“That probably shouldn’t have happened,” Doncic said Thursday. “If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it.”

Doncic has been questioned about his conditioning in the past, with the fan’s comment currently striking a chord.

Despite Doncic’s superstar status and his sixth year in the NBA, he is only 24 and has a long career ahead of him.

Basketball legend and now broadcaster Shaquille O’Neal responded to Doncic’s apology by asking, “Do you want me to show you what to do when someone gets on your nerves?”

Doncic responded, “I wanted to ask Chuck,” referring to Charles Barkley, who was closest to the Mavericks star.

O’Neal walked intensely toward Barkley who was hiding behind Doncic, with Barkley admitting to using the Dallas guard as a shield, before O’Neal walked away and all three men laughed.

The Suns and Mavericks will play one more time this season, on Feb. 22, the only team meeting of the year in Phoenix.

Both teams are currently in a playoff position, with Phoenix’s win helping the team move into a tie for fifth place in the Western Conference.
