“He has potential, technical ability and physical strength that he demonstrates,” Suarez said (via ESPN Argentina). As a teammate I am not surprised because I knew that even when he had a bad time in Liverpool last year, I spoke to him, in Liverpool they told me to speak to him, I warned him and told him what English football was .

“He, with the heart that he has, opened up and told me what happened to him at that moment, we talked about it.

‘Also about the number 9 shirt of the national team, I told him I want him to take it when I leave. That is why, if you listen to Darwin’s statements, he says it with total sincerity.

‘As a teammate I am happy for him; I talked about it internally and before the match with Brazil.

‘These are things that we are happy with as teammates. We are different, we come from different generations and I am happy for the moment he is experiencing at his club and with the national team.’

Nunez came into his own at Liverpool last season, finishing the season with fifteen goals and four assists in 42 games.

This year the striker has scored seven goals and six assists in just seventeen games, making for a much better start to the season at Anfield.

As for Suarez, he is considering a move to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

However, recent reports indicate that Suarez may be having second thoughts about the move to South Florida.
