Luis Rubiales’ uncle has complemented the scathing criticism of the Spanish football chief by saying that even family members are against him, siding instead with Jenni Hermoso in the ‘Kissgate’ scandal.
Juan Rubiales López described his cousin as “a man obsessed with power, luxury, money and even women,” in an explosive 4,700-word interview with the Spanish newspaper El confidential.
Juan described his cousin as a “boy” and called for “generosity” amid the global reaction to his actions, adding, “I think he needs a social re-education program and re-education in his relationship with women.”
He went on to say that “the idea of dignity” for the Rubiales family means “defending Jenni, understanding her and condemning this president’s embarrassing behavior.”
Former journalist Juan, who was given a directing role at the RFEF by his cousin, suggested they now share a strained relationship after Rubiales’ parents “cut everyone off” when their son fired him from the job.
Rubiales has been suspended for an initial 90 days by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for his behavior after the final of the Women’s World Cup in which he kissed Hermoso on the lips.

His inflammatory comments came after Rubiales’ mother was rushed to hospital on the third day of her hunger strike in protest of what she called her son’s “inhumane” treatment.
Her confession came just 24 hours after she defiantly said she would continue beating at the 17th-century church in Motril, near Malaga, ‘until she dropped’.
The 72-year-old said she was willing to die to seek justice for her son, urging Hermoso to “tell the truth” about the kiss that would seal the end of her son’s career.
Referring to the player from church on Tuesday, she said, “I just want the truth to be told.
“She knows my son is very honest. If she tells the truth, everything will be all right.’
Rubiales has been handed a 90-day suspension by FIFA and Spain wants to kick him out of his role, but he has firmly refused to quit.
Juan, the brother of Luis’ father, who has since remarried, said he has “respect” for his cousin’s mother.
He said she “suffered” from the criticism her son received, but doubled down on his own criticism of Rubiales.
Meanwhile, Bejar’s family has been by her side throughout the protest and has also expressed support for Rubiales, repeatedly calling on Hermoso to “tell the truth.”
Hermoso last week denied Rubiales’ claim that the post-match kiss was agreed during a brief conversion between the pair.

She said in a statement: “I felt vulnerable and a victim of an impulse-driven, sexist, misguided act without any consent on my part.
“I want to make it clear that the conversation Mr. Luis Rubiales refers to in his speech never took place and, above all, that his kiss was ever consensual. I want to reiterate, as I did before, that I did not like this incident.’
Rubiales has since fought back and sent FIFA a copy of newly released footage showing the women’s soccer team celebrating and joking about his infamous kiss.
The clip was uploaded to X, formerly Twitter, by journalist Alvise Perez, and in it you can see Jenni Hermoso laughing at a meme of her being kissed by Rubiales.
In an exclusive conversation with MailOnline, Rubiales’ cousin Demelza confirmed that he had sent the new footage to officials in an attempt to defend his case.
She said, “Yeah, this video has been sent and he’s going to send more stuff. There are many more things. There are conversations.

“We want the talks to see the light, and they will. Everything will come out. He’s going to put an end to all this.
“Jenni wasn’t attacked. She doesn’t act like she was attacked. Why does she say these things and then see her laughing and joking on the bus.’
She added, “I haven’t had a chance to talk to Angeles yet and I know Luis will be worried about her. She is an older woman and should not be put in this position. We just want her to come home.
“When the news about Jenni and Luis came on TV, we thought it was a joke at first. Then we saw things getting serious and worried about what would happen.
“We just want her to tell the truth.”
Meanwhile, another of Rubiales’ nieces, Vanesa Ruiz Bejar, said outside the church this week: “There is a campaign of harassment going on that is very unfair.

The church where Angeles Bejar was on hunger strike is located in the Rubiales family’s hometown of Motril, east of Malaga and south of Granada, on Spain’s southern coast.
The mother of ‘Luis’, a very religious person, has sought refuge with God and has started a hunger strike.
“She doesn’t want to leave the church. We all suffer a lot because of what happened to Luis, which doesn’t seem fair to us at all.
“He has already been convicted without trial. It is not normal. We don’t want to be left alone. The facts speak for them, there are videos, there are audio recordings.’
In a direct message to Hermoso, she added, “Jenni, tell the truth.”
“Why did she change her version three times? We have suffered a lot, we have had to leave our homes because of the harassment we suffer.
“We don’t want to be left alone and see justice done, and we want this woman to tell the truth. Jenni, “tell the truth!”
She went on to say that Angeles Bejar, Luis’ mother, was in a very distressed condition, adding, “She is an elderly lady whose health is very fragile and she is suffering a lot.
Rubiales sparked further outrage after footage emerged of him clutching his crotch as he celebrated Spain’s victory near Spain’s Queen Letizia and her 16-year-old daughter.
“She cries all the time, can’t sleep and doesn’t eat.
“The person who spends five minutes with Luis knows that he is a very good person with a big heart. He is a very noble person.’
Rubiales sparked outrage after he kissed Hermoso on the mouth as she stepped forward to collect her medal after Spain’s 1-0 win.
Footage also emerged showing Rubiales grabbing his crotch while standing next to Queen Letizia of Spain and her 16-year-old daughter Princess Infanta Sofia – behavior for which he apologized.

Hermoso has since been threatened with legal action by the Spanish Football Federation after she said she did not consent to the kiss and contested Rubiales’ version of events.
Rubiales claimed that Hermoso “lifted” me up during the festivities and agreed to “a kiss.”
“The kiss was the same one I could give to one of my daughters,” Rubiales added.
He was provisionally suspended by FIFA ‘from all football-related activities at national and international level’ and disciplinary proceedings were opened against the 46-year-old.
81 Spanish players – including all 23 who went to the Women’s World Cup – have announced they will not represent their country until Rubiales is removed from office.
