Lucas Moura has reportedly returned to Sao Paolo until the end of the season, returning to the Brazilian side after an 11-year absence.
The winger left Tottenham when his contract expired at the end of June after a mixed season of five and a half.
It comes just days after James Rodriguez made contact with the Brazilian giants.
He arrives at an important moment, with a Copa do Brasil semi-final second leg looming against city rivals Corinthians on August 16. Sao Paulo are also chasing qualification for the Copa Libertadores, finishing eighth at the halfway point of the campaign.
His return has been reported by CNN Brazilwho say the club is trying to bring him in for their duel with Corinthians.
Lucas Moura is reportedly under contract with Sao Paulo until the end of the season
The 30-year-old winger cut his teeth at the Brazilian giants before moving to PSG
He originally joined the club as a teenager in 2005, going on to make 128 appearances for them, scoring 33 goals.
Moura brings with her a history of success Tricolor Paulistawith whom he won the Copa Sudamericana in 2012 before leaving for PSG.
The winger earned his European stripes in Paris and stormed to four Ligue 1 titles under Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc and Unai Emery before joining Spurs in January 2018.
He made Spurs history in the 2018-19 season when his second-half hat-trick against Ajax propelled them to the Champions League final, but they failed to beat Liverpool in the final.
That season he scored 15 goals in all competitions, by far his best goal for the London team, who have seen him blow hot and cold for most of his time with them.
James Rodriguez signed for São Paulo a few days ago and said he is excited by the pressure
Mail Sport reported in December that Moura would not renew his contract with Spurs and was eyeing a return to his home country.
Moura has unfinished business with Sao Paulo. Before leaving in 2012, he announced his desire to win Brazil’s Serie A with them, but they finished fourth.
‘My heart beats faster with each passing day,” he said at the time. “I know I will miss a lot of things, so every game is like a final for me.
“I want to win, starting with the title, and I’m going to run twice as fast to get it done.”
They could use some of that spirit now as they haven’t won Brazil’s national league since 2008.
