Aussie heavyweight Lucas Browne has accepted that his world title shot against UK Daniel Dubois is controversial, so now he’s focused on a fight against compatriot Demsey McKean.
Browne was scheduled to contest the WBA Regular Heavyweight World Title against Dubois in November, but the British Boxing Board of Control [BBBC] declined to approve the match.
The board claimed that 43-year-old Browne is too old to fight. despite the fact that George Foreman [48]. Bernard Hopkins [51] Dewey Bozella [52] and a host of other senior boxers have been allowed to enter the ring.
According to International Boxing News, Dubois is now set to defend his title against former IBO cruiserweight world champion Kevin Leera at the O2 arena in London on November 26.

That has led Browne, desperate for a title fight before retiring, to go back to the drawing board – where he played a match against undefeated Australian heavyweight Demsey McKean.
“Since the Dubois battle is looking like now, of course I have to look at other avenues,” Browne said on Instagram.
Browne said after the skyrocketing McKean battles with Patrick Korte in Brisbane on Saturday that it would be in “Australia’s best interest” if he included McKean.
Browne had no doubts that McKean would beat Korte, albeit through the cards.
“I don’t want to be rude to that man, but he’s absolutely nobody. He is 15th in Germany. He’s an absolute nobody, completely filled up record, fought absolutely nobody, so Demsey should roll over him.
“Demsey has no power, so it will probably be a decision.
“Myself and Demsey McKean would definitely be a fight I would be 100 per cent interested in, in Australia,”

Browne’s request may have fallen on deaf ears. While he’s right in assuming that McKean has to make short work of Korte, the Ipswich product has its eye on bigger names than Browne.
‘There are many big names, especially under the banner of Matchroom. You got Dillian Whyte, Anthony Joshua, [Filip] hrgovic, [Zhang] Zhilei, Chisora,” he summed up.
“There are big fights there and we have been negotiating with a few of them. Very close at the moment.

“I’m looking forward to going home to Australia, especially my hometown of Brisbane,” he said, after his last two fights have been in the UK.
“I have to make sure that I go out and put on a dominant performance. Then on to the next one.’
‘I haven’t fought in the house for over a year and a half, so it will be a nice large audience, as always.’
