Lucas Bravo shades Emily in Paris as he insists the show doesn’t ‘stimulate’ him as an actor

Lucas Bravo has some thoughts about his future with the hit series Emily in Paris.

The 36-year-old actor, whose idea to make his character Gabriel’s restaurant vegan was rejected, now appears to be wondering whether he should return to the romantic comedy at all.

In an interview with Le Figarothe heartthrob hinted that while the Emmy-nominated series has helped him gain name recognition, it isn’t “boosting” him as an actor.

“Emily in Paris gave me a snowball effect that allowed me to meet certain people and try to create something lasting,” he told the publication.

He admitted that the romantic comedy in which he and Lily Collins’ Emily have an on-again, off-again relationship is “good entertainment” and an escape, but lacks depth.

Lucas Bravo, 36, has hinted he might not be around for season five of hit Netflix show Emily in Paris (pictured in Los Angeles in August)

“I feel the need to raise awareness a little bit about what I’m saying,” he explained of what he hopes to achieve as an actor.

Netflix has already renewed the show for a fifth season, but whether his character, Gabriel, will be part of the storyline remains to be seen.

By the end of season four, Emily had moved to Rome, which could make it easier for Bravo to exit the show seamlessly.

“It will depend on the scenario, because I think I’ve done the trick a little bit,” he explained.

The artist, who has made several films this offseason, including his upcoming Freedom, seems to think he might need a break from the series.

“I don’t really have any freedom and now that people are starting to give me some freedom elsewhere, I’m starting to get a taste for it,” he explained.

‘Life is short. The recording of this series will continue for another five months. Do I want to sacrifice them to say something that doesn’t stimulate me?’ he asked.

The actor also seemed to think Gabriel and Emily’s romance was decades out of fashion.

“Last season was written in this idea of the 1990s, where lovers pull away, kiss, leave again,” he claimed of the show created by Sex and the City’s Darren Star. ‘Everything is based on the lack of communication. It’s a bit archaic.’

If he returns for season five, Bravo said he would like Gabriel to “find some panache again” (pictured in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in November 2023)

“Nowadays the new generation verbalizes, confronts each other, it no longer works on this side, we meet each other and we do not understand each other.”

“People can see this mechanism coming from a mile away… And I don’t want to be part of a cog that tends to disregard the intelligence of its viewers.”

When he eventually signs on for the new season, the actor wants Gabriel to get more exposure to the game.

“I’d like him to find some panache again,” he said.
