LSU’s Angel Reese WILL NOT oblige to visit White House after Jill Biden drove Iowa to them
‘Things like that bother me’: LSU’s Angel Reese WILL NOT commit to a visit to the White House after First Lady Jill Biden floated the idea of March Madness runners-up Iowa joining the champs
LSU’s Angel Reese has admitted she is “bothered” by the suggestion that Iowa would be invited to the White House — and could skip the visit itself as a result.
The Lady Tigers beat the Hawkeyes 102-85 in Dallas on Sunday, and First Lady Jill Biden – who was in the stands – came up with the idea of Iowa joining the DC champions.
And while that idea appeared to have been shot down by her husband, President Joe Biden, on Tuesday, it still struck a chord with Reese.
Reese, who was honored as Most Outstanding Player, tweeted Monday a link to a story about Jill Biden’s comments. “A JOKE,” Reese wrote, along with three crying and laughing emojis.
And she didn’t give a definitive answer when former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall asked if she’d attend the White House visit as she talked about I Am Athlete’s “Paper Route.”
Angel Reese called the idea of Iowa running for the White House a ‘JOKE’
“We’ll see,” Reese said. ‘Don’t know.’
“If we lost, we wouldn’t be invited to the White House. Remember when she made a comment about how both teams should be invited because of sportsmanship. I’m like, “Are you saying that because of what I did?”
“That sort of thing bothers me, because at the end of the day you’re a woman, white, black, Mexican, it doesn’t matter. You should be behind us first and foremost.’
Reese caused controversy towards the end of the National Championship when she challenged her opponents by mimicking the “you can’t see me” gesture Caitlin Clark did earlier in the tournament, pointing to her ring finger.
Nevertheless, Clark said Tuesday that Reese shouldn’t be criticized, criticizing the idea of Iowa going to the White House after scoring 30 points in the title game loss.
“I don’t think runners usually go to the White House,” she said on ESPN’s Outside the Lines. “I think LSU should enjoy that moment for them.

President Biden tweeted Tuesday that LSU and Connecticut “showed us the best of what this country can be,” in a message that seemed to suggest Iowa wouldn’t be invited after all.
“We can all learn a lot from watching these champions,” the president said, “and I look forward to welcoming them to each of their visits to the White House.”
After LSU’s victory, coach Kim Mulkey said she would go to the White House if the team, the Tigers, were invited.
There was no immediate comment from Connecticut, but the team has made the journey to the White House after winning the NCAA title game in previous years.
