LSU women’s coach Kim Mulkey wipes tears from the face of Michigan rival Leigha Brown after the guard’s college career ended in a heartbreaking loss.

LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey took time out after her team’s 66-42 win over Michigan to comfort an opposing player.

Michigan guard Leigha Brown, a fifth-year student, ended her career with a loss in the round of 16 of the NCAA women’s tournament.

Brown struggled throughout the game: he shot 1-7, including going 1-3 from 3-point range for three points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.

After the game, realizing that his college career was over, he began to cry, only for Mulkey to come over and offer some words of encouragement.

Mulkey even used the towel on Brown’s shoulders to dry the player’s tears.

‘Coach Mulkey, there’s a lot of respect there, obviously. She’s a legend,’ Brown said. “She was telling me great job, congratulating me on the season I’ve had and what I’ve done for the show.

She added: “Even after a loss like that, something like that coming from a coach of his stature, that means a lot.”

Even in the postgame press conference, Mulkey praised the Indiana native.

“That kid is a ballplayer,” Mulkey said after the game. He probably took it harder than anyone in his locker room, or at least it seemed that way in handshake line. That boy is a great ballplayer.

Brown was the team’s leading scorer all season, averaging 17.5 points per game with five rebounds and five assists.

However, sophomore Kateri Poole played incredible defense for the LSU Tigers, who went to the Sweet 16 thanks to an amazing performance from forward Angel Reese. She grabbed a mind-blowing 25 points and 24 rebounds along with four assists, three steals and six blocks.
