LPGA star reveals hilarious Charley Hull ‘massage’ story after cigarette-smoking golfer goes viral at US Women’s Open

After going viral this week for being pictured smoking a cigarette, stories about women’s golfer Charley Hull are starting to circulate.

One of her Solheim Cup teammates, Mel Reid, appeared on the Golf Channel and told one of many stories about the viral golfer.

When it comes to stories about Hull, Reid said “most of them are for a late night show” before addressing one story from the 2017 edition of the international women’s golf tournament.

‘Yes, I mean, you were just talking about the ADHD. I mean, honestly, during a Solheim week where she really has to be somewhere and you have to go to the gala dinner and stuff like that, it’s almost like taming a wild animal,” Reid joked.

‘I’m always the one who has to find Charley for the team meetings. But there is one specific story that I will share briefly.

‘We played Solheim Cup in 2017, and me and Charley were against, I think it was Lexi [Thompson] and Cristie Kerr at the time.

‘[It was a] pretty important moment in the match, I think we’re one behind reaching probably the 16th hole. And Charley has about twelve meters to win the hole and get completely square again.

‘She’s over this pit, it’s obviously a big moment, and [to] her caddy [Adam Woodward]’, she says, ‘Ads, Adsi, are you sure you booked that massage for me, right?’ And Ads say, “What?”

“She’s just… ‘You booked that massage for me, yeah?’ And Ads say, “Yes.” She literally says, “Oh, yeah, cheers, dude.” Literally holes in the putt. Literally didn’t even celebrate with me saying, “You definitely booked it, yeah? Because my neck is so stiff, right?”

‘And that’s just Charley Hull. Listen, she’s clearly a glamor girl, and she loves attention. She does. She loves it.

‘She was a bit more health-conscious then and didn’t frolic like she does now. But listen, she clearly loves the attention. But she’s so impressive in the big moments, and she’s one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever met. I could talk about Charley all day, all day, all night. I love the girl to death.

‘I really hope she crosses the line in a major championship because she would be an incredible champion – if she showed up at the press conference.’

Hull put pen to paper — so to speak — with a lit cigarette in her mouth as she greeted fans at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania.

The image made the rounds on social media and even reached the phones of those taking part in the event itself, as world number 1 Nelly Korda showed it to Hull and fellow golfer Megan Khang as the three laughed together.

The reaction on social media was swift as a number of golf fans cast their votes via Twitter.

“No one is making golf look cooler right now than Charley Hull,” one user wrote.

‘Funny because op [Instagram] she’s always in the gym and whatever other than the track [she’s] ripping darts lmao,” said another.

Last year, Hull was diagnosed with ADHD and has been open about how fitness has helped her manage the symptoms.

“When I feel like I’m struggling, I go to the gym,” Hull said in an interview with Sky Sports in April. ‘I have decided not to use medication, because I feel that I can do it myself.

“One of the biggest things for me is routine. That’s why the job I have works well, because my days have a regular structure.

‘When I’m on tour I can get into a really good routine and that helps me a lot. I have a better understanding of myself in terms of what works for me and what doesn’t.

‘I know how important routine is to me and I can plan and schedule better so I can be as healthy as possible. I put myself first. I know my triggers and how to deal with them. I just do myself.’
