IKEA Australia has unveiled ultra-exclusive ‘BallerCards’ that will offer special benefits to 250 of the brand’s most loyal customers.

Recipients of the cards, also known as ‘Ballers’, receive free Swedish meatballs, chicken, vegetables or plants for a year.

These selected members can show their golden BallerCard at the restaurant of one of the Australian IKEA stores to claim their reward.

The BallerCard is available by invitation only and was delivered to the homes of selected 250 IKEA Family members in early October.

“The BallerCard is an opportunity for us to surprise and delight our most engaged IKEA Family members by giving them a taste of IKEA all year round,” said Jessamine Avila, Country Marketing Manager for IKEA Australia.

Many have called the program “80 times more exclusive than the AMEX Black Card” and “91 times rarer than an original Picasso” due to its limited release.

“When we say ‘exclusive’, we mean it. The BallerCards are extremely limited and a great way to show our IKEA Family members how important they are and of course make them feel like balls,” added Justin Ruben, Creative Director of CHE Proximity, who helped developing the program.

The free Swedish meatballs (usually $10.50) are served with mashed potatoes, cream sauce, blueberry jam, and green peas.

If customers are so inclined, they can also claim their free meatballs every day until the reward period ends.

It is currently unclear whether IKEA has plans to issue more BallerCards in the future, or whether the parameters for joining the exclusive club may change.
