Love Island star suffers more disappointment as ITV cancels sitcom after two series’ – weeks after axing ‘outdated’ panel show

An Iain Stirling ITV series has been canceled – for the second time this year.

ITV has called time on ITV2 sitcom Buffering, starring 35-year-old Iain, after just two series, despite reports in May that a third series was in the works.

The comedian's management company Avalon, which produced the show, told the British Comedy Guide that Iain has turned his attention to other projects.

Buffering first aired in August 2021 and starred Iain as a fictionalized version of himself while he and his friends were in their 20s.

The second series aired in January 2023 and had a total of twelve episodes.

Avalon, who produced the show, told the British Comedy Guide that Iain (pictured in episode 1 in 2021 with Melvin Odoom and Emily Atack) has turned his attention to other projects.

Buffering's cancellation follows CelebAbility's in November, after six years, seven series and 52 episodes.

The alleged reasoning from ITV bosses was that the show's format was 'tired' and that celebrity panel shows were outdated.

Despite the recent double blow, Iain will be in good spirits now that the latest Love Island edition Love Island All Stars is just around the corner.

The show starts in January, but fans are still in the dark about who will appear, but they know who won't.

It was reported on Thursday that 2019 star Anna Vakili will not return, despite pleas from producers, because she “changed her mind” at the last minute.

Love Island All Stars is the third version of Love Island, after Love Island Games, which aired in November.

Iain is married to former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, who quit after series 8.

He rose to fame on CBBC, where he co-hosted Hacker T. Dog with the pop.
