Jess and Sammy were crowned Summer Series winners, beating Whitney and Lochan with the prize money of £50,000.

But before announcing the winner, host Maya Jama chatted with both couples about their journeys on the show.

After Whitney and Lochan discussed their time in the villa, Maya suggested the couple’s best bits, but instead of playing the exclusive couple’s highlights, it was a compilation of Jess and Sammy’s journey.

Viewers quickly noticed the gaffe when they immediately took to Twitter.

One wrote, “ooh someone is getting FIRED today. how can they literally skip the best bits of Whitney and Lochan? I better see a winners edit.”

A third ran: I’m sorry but this has been one of Love Island’s worst finals, mistakes that show the best things and then the winners are JESS AND SAMMY!!! How did they beat Whitney (an icon in this series) and Lochan? Imo Jess and Sammy were the weakest couple in the final!’

A fourth agreed: “They didn’t even show the best stuff like Whitney has made this season.”

Some fans believe the mistake was a big giveaway that Jess and Sammy were about to be crowned winners.

One of them wrote, ‘They weren’t showing their best sides, was a huge giveaway couple with Maya’s hideously biased interview, it was clear something dodgy was about to happen’.
