Love Island’s winter series will return on January 16 with a new batch of hopefuls looking for romance.
And one contestant who has already had a brush with fame is 24-year-old science and physical education teacher Kai Fagan.
With his older cousin Dean, 35, who played the role of Luke Britton on Coronation Street until his character’s death in 2014.
Love Island 2023 contestant Kai Fagan, 24, is the cousin of former Corrie actor Dean Fagan and also went to school with Englishman Marcus Rashford.
After four years on the famous street, his character Luke met a grizzled end when villain Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) burned him alive.
Kai also revealed before heading to the villa that he was also in the same class at school with 25-year-old English footballer Marcus Rashford.
He said: ‘I went to school with Marcus Rashford and we were in the same class. The school I went to was sponsored by Manchester United; I had so many experiences thanks to that.’
Departure: After four years on the famous street performer, Dean’s character Luke (pictured) was given a grizzled end thanks to villain Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre)
Explosive – After shooting Luke through the window, the vile villain didn’t end there as he coldly turned on the car and shot out the gas tank, engulfing the car in a huge ball of fire, burning Luke to the ground death.
Marcus became a household name during the pandemic as he fought to keep less fortunate children receiving school meals while studying from home.
Speaking about his love life, Kai admitted that he’s ‘single by choice’ but is ‘looking for the right girl’.
‘I feel like I have pretty high expectations. I don’t feel like I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely excited about them, because it’s not fair to them,” adds the Manchester-based maestro.
He says his friends and family would describe him as “quiet, caring, very impulsive and a nice guy.” I always put my friends and family first and spend a lot of time with them.’

In addition to his sporting talents, he says he “technically has three different titles and went to three different unis.”
It comes after fans once again criticized the lack of diversity in the new lineup, noting that the contestants are “all size 8, Insta perfect six-packs.”
However, Twitter commentators have praised the reality series for the inclusion of the first partially sighted islander and for casting a model who has the skin condition vitiligo.
One of the main criticisms of this year’s programming is the lack of body diversity, with some accusing the show of featuring the same body shapes ‘year after year’.

‘Another #LoveIsland where body diversity is non-existent,’ one follower tweeted, with another concurring: ‘Another year without Love Island body diversity, ‘#LoveIsland’ amazes us.
I don’t know why I was expecting some body diversity on #LoveIsland this time. I hate to comment on the look, but it’s worrisome when everything is instantly perfect, six pack and size 8/10.
Don’t they realize the influence they have on the young? Teaching them that this is normal is not right,’ commented another.
