Love Is Blind UK fans stunned as they unearth ‘fame-hungry’ Nicole’s TV past – and accuse Netflix of ‘hiring her to push a plot’

Nicole Stevens has become one of the standout stars of the hit Netflix series Love Is Blind UK, but it turns out this isn’t her first reality TV appearance.

The first four episodes of the reality series debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, and feature hopeful bachelors who go on dates with their significant other without ever having met them, at least until they get engaged.

Singleton Nicole, 29, took to the pods this week in a bid to find love. However, observant fans quickly discovered that this wasn’t her first TV appearance, as she had already appeared on another popular TV show.

After watching the show, viewers took to the Love Is Blind UK Reddit community to discuss where they knew her from. Several people remembered her having appeared on Come Dine With Me.

One viewer said of the show: ‘I knew she looked familiar!! There are even a few I already knew.’

Another said the same thing: ‘I think she was on something else too, because I’ve seen her on it before.’

While a third chimed in: ‘You know what? The ENTIRE time I saw her on screen I kept thinking she was so famous.’

Other viewers claimed Nicole was “fame hungry” and accused Netflix of “hiring her to push a plot.” One said, “I thought she was stupid to even consider Sam, but then I realized she has the same problem as him and they’re both on the hunt for fame.”

Another added: ‘Come Dine With Me is the pinnacle of daytime TV and I will not tolerate any disagreement, thank you. But it seems our Nicole is scouring the TV screen for attention because absolutely no one goes to CDWM for the money or, God forbid, to show off their culinary skills.’

However, others defended Nicole, with one noting: “I don’t think she was looking for fame. I don’t think people on cooking shows are the same as people on dating shows.”

Nicole’s episodes of Come Dine With Me first aired in August 2021, where she competed against contestants Adam, Izzy, Mark and Chris.

She eventually finished the competition in fourth place, as her presentation skills and meal did not impress her.

Nicole said on the show at the time: ‘I tried my best, at least I’m not Adam [who came last].

The fourth episode of Love Is Blind ended dramatically when Nicole, one of the show’s main characters, accepted a proposal from Sam.

However, the duo broke off their relationship after meeting in real life and did not accompany their fellow cast members to Greece.

Instead, Nicole indicated that she wanted to try it with another man she had spoken to in the pods: Benaiah.

The series, which has already had six successful seasons in the US, follows thirty beautiful candidates hoping to find a partner and get married in a finale full of weddings.

The reality show is presented by couple Emma and Matt Willis.

Luckily, the 48-year-old TV star and the 41-year-old singer are the ideal candidates to host the dating show, as she revealed that she is still ‘madly in love’ with her husband.

Only the first four episodes of the new series have been released. The rest will be available on the streaming service on August 14, 21 and 25.

However, the show has already received criticism from viewers who called it “boring and uncomfortable.”

Many viewers, who had already binge-watched the first four episodes, reacted strongly to the programme on X, writing: ‘Guys this is absolutely awful when I cringe at #LoveisBlindUK already.’ ‘My anxiety and cringing levels skyrocket when I start watching #LoveIsBlindUK.’
