Louis Tomlinson wants to rebuild his friendship with Zayn Malik, although the singer admits he is not the right person to take the first step.
The 30-year-old star got into an argument with his former One Direction bandmate when Zayn, 29, left the group in 2015, but he’s now “closer to all that” than he ever was, although they haven’t spoken.

‘I could be wrong, but I think I said when you asked me a similar question [last time] … I believe I said I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over my frustrations in that relationship.
“I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to having it all over.”
The Bigger Than Me hitmaker claimed he “tried to get in touch” with his former bandmate but doesn’t have his phone number, though he hopes they can find a way to communicate.

He continued: “There have been countless times over the years that I have thought about him and hoped he was well.
‘But it is difficult. I do wish him well…
‘I think in time. I think we should just run into each other because neither of us have each other’s number. I think social media might be the solution.’

Zayn previously criticized One Direction’s music, but recently shared covers of their hits on Instagram.
And Louis admitted he was thrilled to see the hitmaker’s posts I Don’t Want to Live Forever.
Calling Zayn “a different caliber in terms of singers,” he said, “I didn’t just like to like it. It was a nice feeling because in the past he has said what he has said about the band, and I understand some of what he said.
“For me, those videos showed that he was reflecting. It showed that he was thinking about that time. Of course, showing off his incredible voice at the same time.”
