Lotto results scam warning: Winner accuses worker of trying to steal prize

A Sydney Lotto customer has issued an urgent warning to other winners after she claimed a shop assistant tried to steal her prize money from an Instant Scratch-It.

The East Sydney lotto winner accused the shop assistant of trying to mislead them over their winnings, in a Facebook post shared with a local group.

“Be very careful when checking your tickets,” she warned.

‘Today I went to check my scratch card and the seller told me I won $15.

She claimed that when she asked for a receipt, the employee said there was no receipt available.

The winner then threatened to contact The Lott staff, at which point the shop assistant changed his story.

“Then he told me that I actually won $150. Please be very careful with these types of convenience stores.”

Australians were shocked by the customers’ experiences and many called for the store to be named.

Lott Australia declined to comment, but has previously warned of other Lotto fraud schemes targeting online customers.

One of the scams is sending an email that appears to be from TattsLotto. The email claims that you have been selected as a ‘lucky finalist’ in a prize draw.

‘If you use this email, you are not talking to The Lott,’ it warns. ‘It will be a scammer. They will probably ask for your personal or banking details. Do not give any of these details.’
