Australia’s biggest lottery winner has been found when an Adelaide man contacted lottery officials this morning.
He is now $150 million richer and surprisingly, he went to work this morning.
‘I know it may sound crazy, but I will continue to work. I’m working today.’
The middle-aged Adelaide lad had the only winning entry from Division 1 in the Powerball draw 1462, which was drawn on Thursday evening.
The man said he was in shock.
‘Woohoo! I’m still pinching myself!’
‘I can not believe it. I’m the mystery winner! I’m Australia’s biggest lottery winner ever?!
The lucky winner said he looked at the clock last night and saw it was getting late and thought the draw should have taken place by then.

“So I checked the first one and it showed nothing, then I scanned the second one and it said $150 million.
‘I have never screamed so loud or jumped so high.
“This was late last night and I still haven’t slept. I kept checking the ticket!
‘I normally play Powerball, so yesterday was a particularly lucky day. I just bought my ticket when I was filling up the car and randomly bought my ticket there. I can’t believe I walked away with the winning ticket.
The winning entry was purchased from OTR Salisbury Drive Thru, 142 Salisbury Highway, Salisbury.
The man already has plans for what he will do with his new fortune.
‘I’m going to buy a house, I want to travel the world and I have family and friends I want to help, but for now I can’t understand how big this prize is.
‘This is life-changing. I can’t stop smiling and pinching myself. I can’t believe my luck.’
In addition to the $150 million winner from division one, there were 4,433,211 winners in divisions two through nine in last night’s Powerball drawing.
Together they took home more than $89.3 million. This included nine Division 2 winners, who each took home $276,036.95.
The winning numbers in Powerball drawing 1462 on Thursday, May 23, 2024 were 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28 and 6. The all-important Powerball number was 11.
The number of Lott’s Division 1 winning tickets has reached 368 so far in the 2024 financial year, including 26 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In 2023, 20 winning Powerball Division One entries across Australia will have won more than $552.15 million in prize money.
During this time, a Bankstown father scored a $100 million jackpot and became the second biggest Australian lottery winner of all time.
Of the 20 Powerball divisions that had one winning entry in 2023, eight landed in New South Wales, seven in Victoria, two in South Australia and Western Australia, and one in Queensland.
