Los Angeles FC signs Malik Tillman’s older brother Timothy from Bundesliga 2 outfit Greuther Furth as the German midfielder looks to see the new club win a second straight MLS Cup title
Timothy Tillman has officially moved to the United States after it was announced that the German-born midfielder has signed a two-year contract with reigning MLS Cup champion Los Angeles FC.
Tillman spent his youth academy with Furth, as well as the reserves of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, for several seasons.
After spending time with Bayern’s youth system, he returned to Furth and helped the club to promotion to the Bundesliga for the second time in its history.
With two goals and eight assists in 85 appearances for Furth, Tillman offers a range of options and positions from which he can deploy.
Timothy Tillman is the older brother of Rangers forward and USMNT Malik Tillman, who is on loan from Bayern Munich.
German-American midfielder Timothy Tillman will join Los Angeles FC on a two-year contract
A product of Bayern Munich’s academy, Tillman recorded 85 appearances for Greuther Furth.
Timothy can be played in a variety of positions, from attacking, defensive and center midfield to any wing.
Tillman has not appeared for a senior national team for either Germany or the United States, however he is eligible to play for both.
He spent his youth career playing for Germany’s U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams, but hasn’t been called up to any team higher than that.
Tillman was set to change his affiliation to the United States via a one-time trade request to play for Tab Ramos’s US Youth Men’s National Team. However, he accepted a call-up from Germany in that same victory.
Capable of playing as a midfielder and winger, Tillman will be a versatile option in LAFC’s title defense.
