Lorraine’s Ranvir Singh is forced to issue an apology to ITV viewers following Women’s World Cup final scoring ‘mix-up’

Ranvir Singh had to apologize during Lorraine on Monday after a ‘psychic’ parrot mispredicted the Women’s World Cup final winners.

During a segment on Friday, the bird Larry, who had previously correctly predicted all matches of the sporting event, thrilled ITV viewers when he predicted that England would beat Spain on Sunday.

Despite the Lioness’ best efforts, the game ended in heartbreak as England were beaten by Spain – despite a sensational penalty save from goalkeeper Mary Earps.

At the opening of Monday’s show, guest presenter Ranvir apologized for the “spectacularly wrong” prediction and joked that the parrot was “career over.”

She said: ‘We have to start today’s show with an apology, Larry our psychic parrot was spectacularly wrong on Friday.

‘Larry, he predicted that England would win the World Cup final… he’s on the phone with his lawyers right now. His career is over, I’m afraid, Larry, you’re a liar – that’s all we have to say!’

During Friday’s clip, Ranvir joked that the bird had “shelf fright” after causing chaos in the studio for not taking part in the show.

Two people held up food with flags from different teams on it, and Larry chose a hand that predicted who would win.

Jake Quickenden helped out during the show, holding up a cup with the England flag on it.

While Larry refused to play the game, Ranvir joked that Jake “literally fed” the parrot while taking the England Cup of food, leading fans to hope the Lionesses could have brought it home.

Unfortunately, Sarina Wiegman’s side, who inspired millions of fans to tune in across the country, was beaten in Australia by Olga Carmona’s first half strike on Sunday.

The Lionesses got a lifeline when Earps made a great stop to deny Jennifer Hermoso from 12 yards out – but her teammates couldn’t find the net on the other side themselves, bringing an unfortunate end to a great tournament that has raised women’s fame football like no other.

Supporters from all over the country poured into pubs, bars and special fan zones for the historic game, supporting the team until the very last kick.

But there were tears of fear rather than joy at the final whistle as Spain were crowned world champions, leaving England wondering what could have happened.

The European champions had started well initially and were only centimeters away from opening the scoring when Lauren Hemp hit the crossbar with a loop.

But as Carmona drilled home just before the half hour mark, the momentum swung towards Spain and they dominated for the rest of the game.

They had a golden opportunity to double their lead when they were awarded a penalty midway through the second half for a handball against Keira Walsh following a lengthy VAR review.

But Earps made a killer save to deny Jennifer Hermoso, before embarking on a passionate celebration that led to cheers from millions of fans watching at home.

Wiegman turned to Lauren James, arguably England’s star of the tournament who missed the last two games through suspension, and European Championship hero Chloe Kelly in the second half, but they couldn’t offer inspiration from the bench.

It comes as stars heaped praise on England’s ‘inspiring’ lionesses and shared their pride as celebrities reacted to the defeat of the Women’s World Cup final.
