Lorraine Kelly has recalled how Russell Brand called her a “slut” during a TV show appearance.

Referring to their joint appearance on a 2007 episode of The Graham Norton Show, Lorraine admitted “it’s uncomfortable watching that now”.

On her Wednesday morning ITV show, Lorraine was joined by Paul Brand, editor-in-chief of ITV UK, and Alison Phillips, editor-in-chief of The Mirror, to discuss the latest headlines relating to Brand.

The British comedian was accused of rape and sexual assault in a Sunday Times and Channel 4 investigation published on Saturday.

He has vehemently denied the allegations, but the BBC, Channel 4 and production company Banijay have launched investigations into his behavior, while the Met Police say they are investigating a complaint received over the weekend.

Discussing how Brand is slowly being ‘cancelled’, ITV editor Paul told Lorraine on Wednesday that his ‘old jokes now feel like confessions’.

Lorraine then recalled her multiple television appearances with Brand, explaining, “I interviewed him a lot back when he was in the public eye.”

“I usually go for the charming Russell and the attractive Russell, but I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’d like to think that maybe there was a little bit of respect in there. Although there is arrived.

Lorraine later aired a clip of her and Brand together on The Graham Norton show in 2007.

Russell is seen touching Lorraine’s leg in the clip and exclaiming: “Oh my God, you’re wearing suspenders.” I’ve been in other films but none of that matters now, I know Lorraine Kelly is shit.’

In the studio, Lorraine recalled: “It’s uncomfortable to watch, whereas now it absolutely is. Obviously, for the record, I wasn’t wearing suspenders at all.

“He laughed, I laughed. It’s hard to go back to it, and now I probably would have said something, but it’s an entertainment show, that was its thing.

“That’s what he not only did, but was actively encouraged to do.” Not that long ago, not really.

“I wonder if I would have put up with that now. I wonder if we’re in a different place now and if this would have even been broadcast.

Brand faces further allegations of controlling, abusive and predatory behavior, following a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.

Both Channel 4 and the BBC have launched internal investigations into separate accusations of predatory behavior towards staff and members of the public by Brand during the period of his employment.

The former staffers claimed that Brand caused them to “behave like pimps” by obtaining the number of women in the audience and feeding them notes from the presenter.

Brand vehemently denies all allegations and insists all relationships were consensual.
