Lorne beach: Girl, 10, fighting for life after being pulled from the water at picturesque beach

A 10-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being pulled from the water on a beach in Victoria.

The little girl was rescued by lifeguards at Lorne Beach, southwest of Geelong, on Tuesday afternoon after they noticed she had drifted away from shore.

She was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition.

The beaches were packed on Tuesday as temperatures reached almost 32 degrees Celsius in the penultimate week of the summer holidays.
