Sister Margaret Noone, who made a significant contribution to children’s palliative care in Australia, has died.

As a Loreto Sister, a former elementary school teacher and principal, Sister Noone dedicated her life to serving others, especially children with life-threatening conditions.

The website of the organization Very Special Kids announced the death of Sister Noone on Friday.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our first employee and patron, Sister Margaret Noone IBVM AM, at the age of 91.”

“Margaret passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, surrounded by members of the Loreto community and loved ones.”

‘Margaret joined the founding of Very Special Kids in 1985 and quickly went to work advocating the need for holistic pediatric palliative care outside of acute hospital care.’
