Lord Of The Rings’ Elijah Wood confirms Mette-Marie Kongsved is his ‘wife’ amid marriage rumors
Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood confirmed he quietly married his longtime partner Mette-Marie Kongsved.
While appearing in the latest episode of the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, the actor, 43, referred to the film producer, 33, as his “wife” while expressing that he felt “extremely grateful” for his wife and his “family and children.”
The comments come after sources recently said this TMZ that the couple “married on New Year’s Eve in Sweden in what was described as an intimate ceremony with around 80 friends and family members.”
The couple, who have been romantically involved since 2018, share a son born in 2019 and a daughter born in 2022.
It is believed that Wood first met Kongsved in April 2016 on the set of Netflix’s Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which she produced and in which he starred.
However, they waited until 2019 to make their first public appearance together at the Rodarte fashion show.

Mette-Marie also produced Wood’s films Mandy (2018), Come to Daddy (2019) and the upcoming adventure film Bookworm, directed by Ant Timpson.
She was previously married to director Evan Louis Katz, but they split in 2016.
In 2023, Wood opened up about the birth of their second child and the early mornings that come with parenthood.
“I like to get up early, I like to start the day,” he told WSJ. Magazine in 2023, after noting that he gets up between 5:30 and 6:30 every morning.
For breakfast he likes to make his family ‘oatmeal with different herbs, peanut butter and fruit: banana, apples, blackberries.’
“I also really like overnight oats or granola with yogurt, and I sometimes eat that with it,” he added.
The Iowa-born actor also told the outlet that he enjoys taking an active role as a father, from sleep training to packing school lunches for his little ones.
And while Wood has amassed millions of followers on Twitter/Facebook, he revealed that he secretly has a private Instagram account.
“I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,” Wood explained.
“An account that’s public would really change what I share. It’s not that I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person.”
