Looking for a blazing fast GPU in a mini PC form factor? Khadas may have the perfect solution for graphics hungry workstation users – too bad there’s no AMD option

Khadas, a Chinese brand founded in 2016 known for its handy mini PC and incredible external AI processor, is back with perhaps its most interesting gadget yet.

The $999 Mind Graphics eGPU Module, which launches on Amazon on August 1, works with your existing PC setup and adds an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti desktop graphics card to the mix.

The best way to see the module is to work with the Khadas Mind, the company’s mini-PC, to complement its features. One of the problems with smaller PCs is, well, powerful components take up space, and adding an extra external component is a convenient way to solve this problem.

External GPUs, or eGPUs, aren’t new, but with the rise of AI and processor-intensive apps for video editing, game development, and the like, the need to add a big GPU to your PC will only increase.

As you can see in the image above, the Mind Graphics eGPU Module resembles many of the best mini PCs on the market today: essentially a black, square box with an array of ports.

According to Khadas, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti features DLSS 3 for higher frame rates, AV1 encoding for video compression, and is compatible with Khadas Mind and Thunderbolt devices for data transfers up to 128 GT/s.

Small and mighty

Like an all-black Mac mini, the Mind Graphics eGPU Module is small: the company says its body is just 2.5 liters and it comes with a built-in 300 Wh power supply made of durable Al-Si-Cu cast aluminum alloy. We personally would have liked a colorful option, but the need is there.

Khadas says the dimensions are 199mm x 133mm x 100mm, which makes the module impressively small, and means it’ll fit neatly on most desks, even small ones, next to your laptop or desktop PC. The whole thing weighs in at just 2.7kg, too.

What’s really impressive is how many ports there are, with Thunderbolt 4 and 3 USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen2, an SD 4.0 card reader, and 2.5Gbps networking, along with HDMI 2.1a and DisplayPort 1.4a, supporting up to four displays. All of this is on top of your existing I/O setup.

The module also comes with a built-in microphone array, dual-driver speaker, and 85W PD fast charging, all of which are welcome extras. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also “millisecond” fingerprint registration and login.
