Saturday’s Wholesome Direct showcased dozens of (yes, healthy) games, including four that surprisingly launched at the same time as the event. Four whole games! Those are the games Kamaeru: a refuge for frogs, POOOL, The Palace on the HillAnd Traces of thoughts. They are all available on Windows PC Steam, but you will find them too Kamaeru on itch.io and Nintendo Switch; The Palace on the Hill on Android, Apple iOS, Xbox One and Xbox Series And Traces of thoughts on a Windows PC via the Epic Games Store.
Camera is basically a frog breeding simulator, where you essentially set up a habitat for your frogs to thrive in POOOL is a physics puzzle game that sounds like a twisted one Suika game. In the meantime, The Palace on the Hill is a slice-of-life game about life in rural India in the 1990s Traces of thoughts is a card-based mystery-solving ride. They couldn’t all be more different from each other, but they all still look wonderfully healthy.

In addition to the four surprise games released, the Wholesome Direct had no shortage of games to get excited about. Some I’m looking forward to recording Squeakross: Home Beeper Homethat’s mouse Picross; Etea watercolor simulator; Sopa: Story of the stolen potatoan adventure game about getting a potato for your grandma’s soup; While waitinga crazy game where you have to wait; Small bookstore, for which a new demo is available; And Wax headswhere you run a record store.
There were too many incredible looking games shown off at the Wholesome Direct to list here, so if you missed the show, I recommend checking it out for yourself. There is a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
