Londoner Joe Salisbury produced one of his best ever performances to become the first British man to win the doubles title at the ATP Finals.
In doing so, he and US partner Rajeev Ram also won the biggest prize check of their careers, a share of $930,000 (£785,000), eclipsing their earnings for capturing the US Open this summer.
Salisbury and Ram defeated Croatians Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic 7-6 6-4 in Turin to go undefeated all week in the event open to the top eight pairs in the world.

“That’s probably one of the best games we’ve ever played,” said Salisbury, who was described by his partner as “out of this world.”
“We are so proud of everything we’ve done this week,” the British player added. “We’ve been through difficult situations, I can’t believe it. We’ve had some tough moments this season, but also some real highlights.’
Salisbury and Ram took the tiebreak and 7-4 and demoralized their opponents with an excellent display of serve, getting through the odd thrilling point towards the end.

After a season in which compatriots Neal Skupski and Lloyd Glasspool also excelled, this was a fourth title for the Anglo-American duo.
There have also been setbacks for Salisbury, who struggled with back problems and lost both of his games in the Davis Cup playoffs in September.
He and Ram also won the Masters titles in Monte Carlo and Cincinnati.
