Honor: Julia Hoggett
A large number of business leaders have been named in honor of the king’s birthday.
London Stock Exchange chief executive Julia Hoggett and fashion designer Anya Hindmarch have been made ladies, while HSBC chairman Mark Tucker was knighted.
Energy bosses Greg Jackson of Octopus Energy and Alistair Phillips-Davies of SSE have been appointed Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for their services to the industry.
CBEs were also awarded to John Burns, founder of property group Derwent London, Taylor Wimpey chief executive Jennie Daly, former Unilever boss Alan Jope and venture capitalist Jon Moulton.
Hoggett took over the reins at the LSE three years ago, becoming the stock exchange’s first lesbian boss.
She is the daughter of Baroness Hale – once Britain’s highest judge – and told the Mail on Sunday last weekend that her ‘privileged’ upbringing shows that there is much more to be done for diversity.
‘Because I’m a woman, a mother and openly gay, I’m often held up as some kind of big proof that we’ve cracked it.
“I’m proof that we haven’t cracked it because I come from a very privileged background.”
