Logie Awards 2023: New presenter Sam Pang is credited for Channel Seven’s huge ratings at the awards show after the network snatched it from Nine
Channel Seven’s Logies broadcast was a ratings blockbuster for the network, drawing an impressive 877,000 viewers.
And fans have praised host Sam Pang for the show’s success, with many tuning in to the Logies for the first time to see him.
The 49-year-old prankster was a big hit with viewers thanks to his blistering array of jokes.
Pang Slammed took aim at everything from crude reality TV to the scandalous personal lives of celebrities.
Sam’s opening monologue included a dig at Married at First Sight, saying the controversial reality show is “a clear sign that we’re not going to sort of make it.”

He also joked about the lack of diversity on commercial TV.
“I’m the first host in the history of the Logies to be half and half – half Channel Seven, half Channel Ten.
“Let’s face it, it’s just great to have an Asian on Channel Seven who isn’t trying to smuggle live birds through border control.”
But he saved a particularly sharp bang for Karl Stefanovic and his infamous Noosa brawl involving cricket great Michael Clarke.
“Can’t we just have 3 hours of Sam Pang tearing the shit out of the Australian TV industry,” one fan tweeted in tribute to Sam

“Karl Stefanovic said yes, as long as the show was held in a park in Noosa,” Sam joked after joking that the television presenter got the chance to host the Logies.
“Can’t we just have 3 hours of Sam Pang tearing the shit out of the Australian TV industry,” one fan tweeted in tribute to Sam.
Others were quick to agree, with one viewer tweeting, “Can we have Sam Pang host every TV Week Logies Awards from now on?”
“Never watch the Logies,” another tweeted, before adding, “But Sam Pang crushes it and Channel Seven can’t help it. Go Sam Pang.’
Another viewer agreed: “The only reason I watch the Logies is Sam Pang. Honestly the funniest man on Australian television right now.’
Seven’s Logies broadcast was a huge success for the network after they took over Channel Nine’s broadcasting rights last year.

Still, Seven’s ratings weren’t quite what the network had hoped for after Nine managed to rack up an impressive 885,000 viewers for its 2022 broadcast.
The Logies had been a household name at Nine for six decades and many of its stars, including the late Bert Newton, were strongly associated with the event.
Nine has had a patchy run with the Logies since scoring a staggering 940,000 subway viewers in 2017.
There was no broadcast in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, but in 2018 the awards show attracted 851,000 viewers in metro centers in 2018 and 866,000 in 2019.
