Logan Paul defeats Dillon Danis by disqualification as fight ends in mass brawl
Logan Paul beat MMA fighter Dillon Danis by disqualification after their six-round heavyweight grudge match ended in a mass brawl at Manchester’s AO Arena on Saturday night.
The preparation for the fight had been taken over by trash talk, insults, fights at press conferences and flying objects.
“El Jefe” Danis has been trolling Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, on social media since the fight was announced and it finally boiled over during the final round of their fight, which saw over 30 agents security rush into the ring in a chaotic and controversial ending.
Paul, dressed in pink shorts, boxed on the outside and at a distance, while Danis took the center of the ring in a cautious first round.
Paul, 28, then opened up late in the next match, unleashing a series of crushing body shots that Danis managed to absorb.
Danis threw a few backhand shots before lying flat on the canvas to taunt his rival. Paul and the crowd were frustrated and agitated by what looked like a pantomime rather than a pay-per-view fight.
Danis had never competed in a boxing match before, with his background in jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts, although he hadn’t fought in MMA in four years and was only two professional fights under his belt.
The 30-year-old was set to fight KSI months ago but withdrew, but he got his chance against Logan Paul, whose only professional fight loss came against KSI.
Paul, who has more than 23 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, won easy fourth and fifth rounds as his opponent just looked to avoid the knockout, while Danis was deducted a point in the final round for having tried to tackle Paul to the ground.
The round quickly turned into a chaotic mass brawl when he attempted to take Paul down with a guillotine move.
This brought security into the ring with Danis starting to throw punches at them, and even Jake Paul getting involved, while Logan stood on the ropes celebrating.
The official result of the fight was a victory for Logan Paul by disqualification.
Additionally, YouTuber Slim stopped TikTok sensation Salt Papi in the penultimate round of their five-round encounter to record a surprise victory and capture the Misfit middleweight title.
