The body of a 45-year-old man has been found blindfolded and with his hands tied behind his back while wearing a collar, leading to a murder investigation.

Authorities discovered the gruesome scene at 3:45pm Monday at a house in Diana Crescent in Lockridge, Perth’s northeastern suburbs.

The father-of-two was found with horrific head wounds inside the home – opposite a daycare center – after being last questioned at 8:40am on Sunday.

It’s clear the man’s concerned ex-partner made the gruesome discovery before alerting the police. 9News reported.

Western Australian Police Inspector Geoff DeSanges said evidence at the crime scene showed there was ‘third party involvement’.

“This does not appear to be a random incident, so we do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the community,” he told media.

Inspector DeSanges added that the man was not known to police and dismissed claims that a firearm was involved.

He also declined to comment on the man’s injuries.

It is believed the perpetrator was an acquaintance of the victim.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and the homicide unit is appealing to the community – anyone with information, certainly vision, to come forward,” he said.

Homicide detectives arrived Monday night with a forensic team and worked through the night into the next day — and are expected to stay there for a few days.

Authorities searched trash cans and examined a laptop while paying particular attention to the home’s backyard.

Police have no suspects in custody and have fired crime gangs linked to the shocking incident.

Officers searched the neighborhood and were also seen entering the backyard of the house next door.

Meanwhile, neighbors were left in shock at the grim discovery and the heavy police presence on their street.

Marisha Taylor said the incident has upset locals.

“It was a bit of a shock to see something like this happen in a small suburb when it is very friendly,” Ms Taylor told the Western Australian.

“It’s a family area, so it’s a shock to know that something like this has happened here… with small children around, including right next to the nursery.”

Another local resident, who declined to be named, said “nothing usually happens on this street.”

“It’s pretty quiet, there’s no crime, so yeah, it’s surprising to see all those cops,” she said.

Police are calling on anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage of the man in his final hours from Sunday morning to Monday afternoon to contact Crime Stoppers.
