Lizzo shows off her blonde locks as she sports a platinum wig

She was revealed as the surprise performer at the 2023 Met Gala held Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

And after her show at the exclusive event, Lizzo was pictured joining her showbiz cohorts for a night of frivolity at the Met after-party.

The American rapper, 35, switched out her performance look in favor of a shimmering silver dress teamed with a curly blonde wig.

Lizzo’s locks were styled in wavy waves and she sported a full face of glamorous makeup, including a dramatic smokey eye and glossy lip.

She accessorized with a pair of massive silver hoop earrings and amped up her body with a pair of sky-high gold metallic platform heels.

The star-studded event always features a major performer performing, and the artist’s identity is always kept confidential until they appear on stage.

And Lizzo took the stage to perform songs like Juice and About Damn Time for hundreds of celeb guests at the biggest fashion night.

She showed off her famous curves in a shimmering silver bodysuit by Yitty, paired with a matching Fendi jacket.

The Truth Hurts hitmaker rocked a pair of knee-high Piferi boots, while accessorizing with Fendi bracelets and Swarovski rings.

After the incredible performance, Lizzo was spotted showing off her dance moves as she started twerking with model Gigi Hadid.

Earlier in the evening, Lizzo got the surprise of her life when she received an unexpected hug from Jared Leto, who was unrecognizable behind a full-body cat suit.

While it’s unclear if she initially knew the Oscar winner, 51, was the man behind the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s dressed-up cat, Choupette, the 35-year-old Truth Hurts hitmaker understandably looked creeped out during their exchange.

As the actor wrapped his arms around her shoulders for a hug, she looked wary that his costume would feature white fur on her gorgeous beaded black dress, which had a bold thigh-high slit.

The four-time Grammy winner looked scary before patting Leto on the back as she headed for the red carpet.

For the occasion, she wore a form-fitting floor-length dress designed by Chanel and her wavy locks in a romantic updo.

Her glamorous makeup look consisted of a dramatic gray smokey eye, black winged eyeliner, nude lipstick and lots of blush on the apples of her cheeks.

The rapper-singer-songwriter, who has attended the Met Gala ever since her debut at the event in 2021, embellished her timeless gown with stacks of beaded bracelets, pearl earrings and black nail polish.

Meanwhile, Leto got a lot of attention dressed as Choupette, now 11, who has more than 181,000 Instagram followers and is said to be the most photographed cat in the world.

After Lagerfeld’s death, his famous cat was left to the caretaker of the designer Françoise Caçote, who stopped working to devote her time to caring for her.

Last month it was reported that Lagerfeld’s cat had not received her £1.3 million inheritance, more than four years after his death.

Lizzo’s appearance comes after she scheduled the annual fundraiser over the weekend in an Instagram Live, where she listed several complaints, from the lack of seating to the amount of alcohol on offer.

Hosted by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, the annual ball is the biggest evening in fashion, as well as a fundraising drive to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.

Lizzo performed an incredible flute solo on the red carpet when she made her debut at the event last year, wearing a black Thom Browne corset dress with garter belt cutouts under a gold embellished coat selected by stylist Jason Rembert.

She said, ‘There’s a long line. I’m taking the glamour, but it’s true. You have to wait.

“So you wait and that’s the hard part. I was sweating in a thick coat, my feet ached.

“They have no chairs, no cocktails. I was like, “B***h? Can we get some chairs or some drinks or some hors d’oeuvres?”

Once inside, Lizzo was disappointed when a waiter told her the only choice of alcohol was red or white wine.

She recalled, “They were very stingy with the booze that night. He was like “Red or white wine?”.

“And I thought, ‘Tequila! You know what I’ve been through? You know how many hours I’ve been in this corset? How long have I been in these goddamn shoes? Tequila!”.”

Of her red carpet performance, she said, “I had the plan to play the flute and do the whole intro [of a classical piece] but I got nervous and I only played it once because all the photographers were bothering me’.

“They were like, ‘You put us to sleep with the whistle!” I was like “OK?” In my mind I thought everyone would be transfixed.

“So I only played it once, just the first half of it. Then I posed and took the pictures.’

Despite her grievances, she admitted she had a great time at the event: “This is like a celebrity ball. . . My ball sucked. Now I feel like the Grammys and the Met Ball, they’re like my prom.

This year’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Thing of Beauty, a tribute to the legendary German designer, who passed away in 2019 after leading the French fashion house Chanel since 1983.

While the show may be known for its glitzy and over-the-top red carpet — with details about what goes on inside that often remain mysterious — at its heart, it’s a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Last year, the 2022 MET Gala alone grossed a total of $17.4 million, Billboard reported.

This year, according to Page Six, the entry fee has increased from $30,000 to $50,000.

Even if you have the money, that doesn’t guarantee entry to the party.

Every guest must be invited and there is a waiting list for the coveted golden ticket.

And status matters, according to The New York Times, which means the hottest stars are shooing in for an invite.
