Her Simpsons fandom hasn’t exactly been a secret, as the piper previously covered herself in yellow body paint to transform into Marge Simpson for Halloween.

Lizzo will be able to show off her talents when she performs a new song, which features lyrics by Long, who wrote the episode, and music by Flight Of The Conchords star Bret McKenzie.

“The song is called ‘It Was Marge, B****’, and the b**** in question is Homer,” Long continued. “I can’t give you too much context without giving you too much history, but it’s really in her wheelhouse, and she sang a lot.”

According to Long, the episode opens with Home “angry about something” that is initially unexplained. “And as he flies through the air and talks to this little doll, we find out that he’s incredibly furious with Marge because she’s been keeping a secret from him.”

The episode draws on classic literary inspirations, as it borrows from Ambrose Bierce’s classic short story An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge, along with Jorge Luis Borges’s story The Secret Miracle.

Long joked that Lizzo has a stormy relationship with Homer in the season finale.

“Lizzo says ‘f****’ a lot and doesn’t take Homer very well,” he continued. “She ends up slapping and kicking him a lot to try to talk some sense into him. Which is a lot of fun. And they end up developing a weird relationship that is very, very sweet.

“We thought, ‘Well, if we have Lizzo, we should see Lizzo,” Long recalled. “So we animated a little thing at the end where she’s filming her part with the Simpsons. And that’s also a lot of fun. It’s kind of a weird “behind the scenes” reality.

The segment features Lizzo’s flute as well as a duet performance with Lisa Simpson’s tenor saxophone.

“And the funny thing is that Lizzo is a huge Simpsons fan, she improvised the line: ‘I’m going to get my Sasha Flute and you take your saxamaphone and we play,'” Long said, explaining that, “Saxamaphone is such a deep reference to The Simpson that we all said, ‘Wow. She knew all the Simpsons references.

While the voice actors often record their parts alone, Lizzo was able to record her lines with Dan Castellaneta, who does the voice of Homer, and was apparently “in awe” to see him in person.
