Liz Cheney Urges Nikki Haley to STAY in Race Until Super Tuesday: Trump Allies Say They’re ‘Birds of a Feather’ and Claim Ex-Congressman’s Endorsement ‘Final Nail in the Coffin’ is

Former Rep. Liz Cheney urged Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley to stay in the 2024 race — at least until Super Tuesday — drawing the ire of some allies of former President Donald Trump.

Cheney was asked about Haley’s offer during an interview with Pod Save America’s Daniel Pfeiffer and Jon Favreau, which was released Friday morning.

“I hope she stays in the race,” Cheney said. ‘As long as necessary, especially through Super Tuesday. “I think we’re in a situation where only two states have voted and about 35 percent, I believe, of Republicans who came out of the ballot in New Hampshire saying they would never vote for Donald Trump.”

The former congresswoman’s comments were not an official endorsement from Haley, with the podcasters asking Cheney if she was concerned it could hurt the former U.N. ambassador’s chances.

“I have not made any formal statements of support at this time, but I would certainly never support or vote for Donald Trump again,” Cheney said.

Cheney has become a target of the MAGA movement for her fierce criticism of the former president.

Trump’s allies were quick to link Cheney to Haley after she said the former South Carolina governor should continue her bid.

“In life you can’t let people get away with bull***,” he said. ‘You just can’t do that. When I looked at her, the beautiful dress, it probably wasn’t, I said, what is she doing? We won.’

In the Pod Save America interview, Cheney also called it “inappropriate” that Republican National Committee Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel appeared to put his finger on the scale.

After Tuesday night’s primaries, McDaniel appeared on Fox News and encouraged Haley to resign, saying she believed Trump would be the party’s “eventual nominee.”

Then David Bossie, a Trump-affiliated RNC committeeman, introduced a resolution to have RNC members vote to consider Trump as the “presumptive” nominee before he has amassed a majority of delegates, the usual barometer of a victory .

By Thursday evening, Bossie had withdrawn the resolution and Trump had posted on Truth Social that he wanted to win the primaries “the old-fashioned way” – with votes.

While the resolution did not come from McDaniel, Cheney said it was a particularly bad move “when we know she was personally involved in the fraudulent election scheme” to try to overturn the 2020 election for Trump.

McDaniel testified before the House of Representatives’ Jan. 6 committee, of which Cheney co-chaired, that she had been asked to find “contingent electors” — which was part of Trump lawyer John Eastman’s bogus elector scheme.

Friday morning on Fox & Friends, Haley confirmed she had spoken to McDaniel.

“I let her know how disappointed I was,” the 2024 hopeful said.

Haley also tried to blame Trump for Bossie’s “presumptive” candidate resolution.

“It was his people who brought it forward,” Haley said. ‘I know how much pressure he put on Ronna. Ronna has made it very clear that all along he was pushing her to stop the debates.”

“He forces them to do things and they got a big backlash and why he had to talk it back,” Haley said.
