Livvy Dunne reveals why she gets more nervous to watch MLB boyfriend Paul Skenes pitch for Pittsburgh Pirates than for her own LSU events

Livvy Dunne revealed how nervous she gets when she watches her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, take the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The LSU gymnast even admitted that she finds her own events less nerve-wracking than cheering on her husband, who is one of baseball’s top prospects.

“I get more nervous watching Paul because it’s just different when you’re not doing it and you’re not in control,” Dunne said in a video posted by Bleacher Report on Tuesday.

“But I have confidence in his abilities and I can kind of turn those nerves into excitement for him,” she continued.

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model laughed when asked if Skenes also gets more nervous around her than he does before his own competitions.

‘I honestly don’t know anyone who thinks like him. “I really don’t know what he would say,” she replied.

The two started dating while studying together at LSU in Baton Rouge, and went public with their romance in 2023.

Dunne has been a regular at Pirates games since Skenes was called up to the big leagues last month, most recently showing her support when they took on the star-studded Dodgers.

The 21-year-old model shared a photo of her all-black outfit, consisting of a bodysuit, jeans and a Pirates cap, before Skenes’ showdown against Shohei Ohtani.

She watched the reigning AL MVP strike out Skenes with a 100-mph fastball in the first inning.

Her friend ended up throwing seven more at-bats in five innings, as the Pirates defeated the Dodgers at home, 10-6.

“His stuff… that first at-bat… was really good,” Ohtani said of Skenes. “I couldn’t put good swings together, but overall just really good stuff.”

Of course, Dunne was also present for Skenes’ MLB debut in Pittsburgh last month.

“I had some nerves at first, but I turned it into excitement rather than nerves, and I just have the most confidence in him ever,” she told Sportsnet Pittsburgh ahead of the No. 1 overall prospect’s first game. .

“I just trust him and what he puts into it, and I’m just so excited,” she continued.

“It’s great, the support here is great. Pittsburgh was so welcoming. All I see are people wearing Air Force stuff, LSU stuff, Skenes jerseys.”

The rookie has become an instant sensation for long-suffering Pirates fans this season when 23,162 spectators showed up for a midweek match last month – more than double the club’s average.
