Anwar Megbli has died after a road accident, leaving Italian football in mourning.
The 18-year-old, who was in the books in Livorno, died on Monday after falling from a moped on Saturday night.
The Italian attacker was on the back of a friend’s vehicle when it collided with a car, after which the player was taken by helicopter to the Cisanello hospital in Pisa.
However, the doctors were unable to save the teen, while his friend was still recovering from the collision in hospital.
Livorno posted an emotional tribute, announcing the news on Monday night after confirming their young star’s passing, stating, “No, you can’t die at 18.”

Today, after a tragic traffic accident between San Vincenzo and Donoratico in the night from Saturday to Sunday, Anwar Megbli, striker born in 2005 for the national juniors of the Unione Sportiva Livorno 1915, died.
“The entire company extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones at this time of deep sorrow.
“You’ll always be with us.”
Megbli was a promising striker for the Serie D side and was sometimes called up to the first team last season despite being an Under-19 player.
His former side USD Castiglioncello posted a touching tribute to their longtime player with an image of a younger Megbli celebrating with his teammates.
It read: “USD Castiglioncello 1919 Company, having learned the tragic news of the death of Anwar Megbli, an 18-year-old boy who grew up in the Giovanissimi Azzurri, extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends and teammates. .
“We want to remember you so, along with your jubilant companions for a derby won thanks to your fantastic left foot!”
Italy’s Pescara also expressed its condolences, writing: ‘A big hug to the family of Anwar Megbli, 18-year-old promise from Livorno, who died in a car accident. Rest in peace Meg.’
