‘Living Nostradamus’ warns AI is set to progress ‘beyond human control’ and claims natural disasters are going to increase

‘Living Nostradamus’ warned that AI will develop in a way that is ‘impossible for humans to control’ and claimed that natural disasters will become more common in the coming months.

Athos Salomé, 37, a trained parapsychologist from Brazil, is often called a psychic because of the accuracy of his insights and predictions. He previously predicted the coronavirus pandemic, the death of Queen Elizabeth II and asteroids heading for Earth.

As artificial intelligence is rolled out across many sectors, some scientists warn the technology could spiral out of control.

Salomé said the following in an exclusive interview with FEMAIL: ‘AI has made enormous progress in recent years and poses a threat to various sectors of society.

‘If nothing is done, AI will reach a stage where it is out of control. It will do things that are beyond human control and management, in ways that are beyond their comprehension.’

The ‘living Nostradamus’ feared that one day ‘human-alien’ computers would take over and become deadly.

According to Athos, the Japanese AI Sakana, which was founded in 2023 and focuses on developing technologies to support Japan and its allies, can be described as a prime example of a more recent threat.

The AI startup claimed to have built the world’s first AI scientist who could rewrite his own code, as if using his own intellect.

Salomé said: ‘During tests with The AI Scientist, a system designed to conduct autonomous scientific research, researchers noticed some alarming behavior.

‘It started to progress and the AI started changing the code of the experiment itself to extend the time it had to solve a problem, even though it wasn’t programmed to do so.

‘AI also rewrote the code to make the program repeat itself. The AI was able to overcome limitations imposed by developers’.

Salomé said that with these new developments, “it is high time that boundaries and controls over AIs are established.”

He added: “Otherwise we end up in situations where AI can operate with a degree of independence that is ethically questionable.”

It comes days after Mark Zuckerberg gave the green light to train new Meta AI technology using billions of UK Facebook and Instagram posts.

Following talks with the UK’s data protection watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office, the US company is set to launch within weeks.

Meta had not launched its AI tools in the UK or EU due to concerns from regulators. Talks with the EU are still stalled. But Meta said the UK would now allow it to harvest billions of public posts and images.

There are concerns that the public does not understand how their personal information will be used. Meta said it would not use private messages from people, or material from people under 18.

Salome warned that natural disasters will become more common in the coming months.

Natural disasters such as typhoons, hurricanes, forest fires and volcanic activity have already increased in 2024.

Salome said the severity of typhoons hitting Asian countries including the Philippines, Vietnam and parts of China will increase.

The disaster comes after Myanmar was hit by severe flooding following Typhoon Yagi, forcing more than 230,000 people to flee their homes.

The floods have killed at least 33 people, the country’s military said. State-run temporary camps have been set up for victims left homeless, the BBC.

Salomé also claimed that category five hurricanes and cyclones will become more common and that this will affect the Gulf of Mexico and Florida in the United States.

Elsewhere he predicted that we would see an increase in volcanic and seismic activity along the Pacific Ring of Fire, particularly in Java in Indonesia and along the coastline running from Northern California to southern British Columbia in Canada.

Last week, Salomé announced that more of his predictions are coming true, including asteroids headed for Earth.

While NASA confirmed that its Near-Earth Object Observations Program is monitoring a massive asteroid nicknamed the “God of Chaos” that is expected to pass Earth on Sunday, Athos warned us back in July.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: ‘On July 28 this year, I posted another video on my Instagram stories about the asteroid, predicting that NASA would make an announcement in September, confirming that the asteroid would be on a collision course with Earth in November. My predictions are not coincidence. They are well-founded and are coming true.’

Meanwhile, scientists around the world were surprised last week when a previously unnoticed asteroid collided with Earth’s atmosphere.
